In some cases, only fragments remain — brief testimonies passed from one witness to another, tracing the outlines of events too vast or too sudden to be fully recorded. This final account tells of such a moment: a massacre in the town of Dynów in the early days of the war, and a single note retrieved from the dead, asking not to be remembered, but to be buried.
